Eleven patients with advanced gastric cancer, five patients with esophageal cancer were treated with Etoposide, Aclacinimycin (or Adraimycin), and Cisplatin (EAP) combination chemotherapy.
The results were as followings：
1. The response rate was 64％ in advanced stomach cancer and 60％ in esophageal cancer. The overall response rate was 63％ in total patients.
2. The toxicites of the EAP combination regimen were evaluated by ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group) toxicity criteria The toxicities were as followings in order of frequency： anemia 44％, nausea and vomiting 37％, leukopenia 13％, genitorinary toxicites 7％, thrombocypenia 6％.
3. The median duration of survival was 7.5+ months stomach cancer and 8+ months in esophageal cancer in responded patients.
4. The median duration of partial remission were 4+ months and 5+ months in stomach cancer and esophageal cancer in respectively.
In conclusion, the EAP combination chemotherapeutic regimen have substantial effects on advanced stomach and esophageal cancer.
