Eleven patients with advanced gastric cancer, five patients with esophageal cancer were treated with Etoposide, Aclacinimycin (or Adraimycin), and Cisplatin (EAP) combination chemotherapy.
The results were as followings£º
1. The response rate was 64£¥ in advanced stomach cancer and 60£¥ in esophageal cancer. The overall response rate was 63£¥ in total patients.
2. The toxicites of the EAP combination regimen were evaluated by ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group) toxicity criteria The toxicities were as followings in order of frequency£º anemia 44£¥, nausea and vomiting 37£¥, leukopenia 13£¥, genitorinary toxicites 7£¥, thrombocypenia 6£¥.
3. The median duration of survival was 7.5+ months stomach cancer and 8+ months in esophageal cancer in responded patients.
4. The median duration of partial remission were 4+ months and 5+ months in stomach cancer and esophageal cancer in respectively.
In conclusion, the EAP combination chemotherapeutic regimen have substantial effects on advanced stomach and esophageal cancer.
